Retractable Screens for Difficult Openings to Screen
Many homes have features such as French or atrium style doors that are almost impossible to screen using traditional hinged screen doors. Others have standard doors in places where there is not room for a hinged screen door to swing. A door to a garage is an example. The door often swings into the home so as not to interfere with the space needed to park a car in the garage. A hinged screen door would have to be mounted to swing out into that space so it is impractical. A sliding patio door is another difficult opening to screen. These doors often come with sliding screens that are clumsy to use at best; at worst they come of the tracks and do not work at all. No matter what, they are always there blocking the light and the view.
Retractable screens are perfect for screening these difficult openings. Because retractable screens store out of sight when not needed they are the perfect choice for French, atrium or sliding doors. Since retractable screens do not swing open and closed like hinged screen doors they do not waste valuable floor space either inside the home or outside on a porch or patio. This feature also makes it possible to screen that difficult door to the garage while still being able to get the car in.
Retractable screens are the perfect choice for any of these difficult openings to screen, but the designs that have been available are far from perfect. Conventional retractable screens are expensive, complicated and unreliable. Screens Solutions Inc has introduced the Plissé (PLEE'-say) retractable screen which uses a unique folding pleated fabric to store out of the way when not needed. This simple design eliminates all of the springs and bearings used in conventional retractable screens - making it affordable and reliable
